Once again it's time to look back over our most popular antiques and home decor blog posts of 2014. What a year it has been, with lots of changes and good news. As always, we are very grateful to our wonderful customers who not only return to us time and again to buy antique, vintage, and new furniture and home decor accents, but they also send us photos so we can see how the pieces look in their home!

Let's start with the first of our favorite 12 antiques and home decor blog posts of 2014. We’ll share the rest in our next post to welcome the new year!

1. Antique Furniture in a Castle in Charleston

, Top 12 Antiques and Home Decor Blog Posts 2014: Part 1It's hard to pick just a few of the many client spotlights I've featured this year, but this story about Brittany's Castle in Charleston, SC, still stands out in my mind! Brittany and her husband Greg were looking for furniture with lions to furnish their beautiful new home. It looks just like an old French castle, and the full post shows the inside too, including the furniture carved with lions that they bought from us.

2. Antique Renaissance Buffet in a California Kitchen

, Top 12 Antiques and Home Decor Blog Posts 2014: Part 1This is another client spotlight we enjoyed because our client Natalya gave us a tour of all the decor details in her gorgeous kitchen in Palo Alto, CA. Natalya bought the pretty antique French Renaissance buffet on the left of the photo from us. It dates to 1900 and is elaborately carved in walnut wood with flourishes and fruit. See more photos of Natalya's family kitchen in the Antique Renaissance Buffet post.

3. Our Antique Table in Johnny Cash Boyhood Home

, Top 12 Antiques and Home Decor Blog Posts 2014: Part 1We were thrilled when the new Johnny Cash Boyhood Home museum in Dyess, Arkansas, bought an antique table from us. The heavily-carved 1890 Mechelen oak antique table is just like one owned by the Cash family. In these posts on the Johnny Cash Boyhood Home I talked about the house history and restoration, the museum opening, and the reaction from Roseanne Cash to her dad's childhood home. The singer's Scottish ancestry is pretty fascinating too!

4. EuroLux 10 Year Anniversary in Antiques and Home Decor

, Top 12 Antiques and Home Decor Blog Posts 2014: Part 12014 was the 10th anniversary of our business and Greg and I had fun remembering that first decade. In our 10 Year Anniversary posts I shared some of the newbie mistakes we made at our first antique shows. We can look back and laugh now but we had some nerve-rattling moments, especially when we accidentally glued furniture to our hotel room!

We also changed our name this year from EuroLux Antiques to EuroLux Home. This is because we now offer much more than just antiques, including antique-inspired new furniture and finely crafted home decor accents.

5. Eclectic Decor

, Top 12 Antiques and Home Decor Blog Posts 2014: Part 1Among my 2014 posts on creative home decorating, the post on Eclectic Decor: Freedom from Matchy-Matchy Furniture really hit home for a lot of people. That's probably because our customers (and blog readers) don't want predictable "Rooms-To-Go" - and neither do we!

6. Visit a Historic Inn

, Top 12 Antiques and Home Decor Blog Posts 2014: Part 1I loved writing about these three historic inns around the country. They are great for a  getaway as they are not only rich in history, they are also decorated with antique furniture and period decor.

, Top 12 Antiques and Home Decor Blog Posts 2014: Part 1Finally, I just have to add this photo of Jake that we posted on our Facebook page. We found Jake taking a snooze with one of his favorite toys - Winnie the Pooh! He also loves Barney, Snoopy, and Curious George. Go figure!

Happy new year everyone. If you enjoyed this, see the rest of our picks for the year! Here's the link for the "Part 2" final six of our top 12 antiques and decor blog posts of 2014.[related_products is_auto_added="1"]
