Chandelier Lighting for Every Room and Style

Chandelier lighting makes a wonderful design statement in any room. Some people think you have to have a formal dining room to show off a chandelier. (For example, see the dining rooms in our client spotlights on Gail’s French vintage Rococo chandelier or Gary’s Art Nouveau chandelier.) Others like to use chandelier lighting in an entry way or foyer. A little razzle dazzle creates a sparkling welcome!

But you can enjoy the beauty of a chandelier in any room from the bedroom to the powder room. The crystal swagged chandelier in this traditional kitchen adds a very individual touch, doesn’t it?

We stock a huge selection of chandelier lighting in our online gallery. The choices range from antique and vintage chandeliers to new chandeliers hand-crafted by artisans. Let’s have a look at some of the chandelier style options for every room and every taste.

Vintage chandelier lighting Do you prefer streamlined shapes rather than the more elaborate swoops, swags and flourishes of fancier Rococo styles? Then this 1950 vintage French chandelier shows you can have ornate style without the frou-frou details! The metal chandelier is crafted with a light golden finish. The 6 arms boast a graceful leaf motif. The body has an ornate embossed look too. It’s stately and elegant, and would look terrific in a living area or dining room, or even in a hallway. When hanging chandelier lighting in areas where people will walk beneath, be sure to leave at least 7 feet from the ground. If you have a tall visitor with a bouncy step, you don’t want them banging their head!

Vintage Capodimonte chandelier lighting

If bling is simply not your thing, a ceramic chandelier like this darling vintage Capodimonte one is a pretty choice for a Victorian home or cottage. Or even for a modern shabby romantic bedroom or dressing room! The Italian chandelier is a petite 20 inches wide and 17 inches tall so it will fit nicely into a smaller space. But even though it is petite, the yellow 1950 vintage Capodimonte chandelier is full of cheer, painted with flowery panels.

Dale Tiffany chandelier lighting Mission styleBelieve it or not, this Dale Tiffany Mission style chandelier is not actually an antique. It is crafted by Dale Tiffany artisans in hand-rolled art glass with a bronzed metal base. The size and heavy look make this light a good fit for a larger room. Think about a great room or a high-ceiling foyer where it will balance the room scale nicely.

Rustic carved chandelier lightingThis rustic hand-carved chandelier is also newly crafted. The style is so adaptable that we could see it in a Scandinavian design scheme or in the decor of someone with a taste for folk art. Picture it in a country cabin, a Farmhouse kitchen, a Boho chic boudoir… the possibilities are endless. Each of the 8 hand-carved scroll arms supports a narrow shelf with candle cups and electric candles. Charming!

If you hang this or any chandelier over a dining table, allow at least 30 to 33 inches clearance above the table top.

Upcycled vintage spoon chandelier Finally, those of you with eclectic taste (or a love for tea!) will enjoy this upcycled vintage spoon chandelier. It is hand-crafted by an artist using vintage silver plate spoons.  You can see how fabulous it looks in our customer spotlight about Barbara’s kitchen featuring a custom-made spoon chandelier.

Fun and unique, the upcycled lighting would look delightful in a breakfast nook or your cottage kitchen. I can also imagine it as an entertaining addition to a guest bedroom. It will bring a smile to any visitor’s face and make them feel quite special and welcome!

I hope this post has inspired you to think about chandelier lighting in a new light!  (Sorry, I couldn’t resist.)
So here’s the Chandelier Challenge – just for fun. Describe your room or show us a picture and we’ll suggest a chandelier to suit it!

Dale Tiffany Lamps: The Creative Process

Antique inspirations in Dale Tiffany lamps at has carried Dale Tiffany lamps, chandeliers, and other light fixtures since summer 2012. These stunning hand-made glass lights often replicate the original stained glass designs of Louis Comfort Tiffany lamps. The creative process behind Dale Tiffany lamps is a wonder to behold so I was delighted to see this video showing how the artisans hand-craft each piece. Eye candy alert! Whether you’re in the market for table lamps, floor lamps, desk lamps, glass shades or more, Dale Tiffany has you covered. You’ll see some gorgeous lamps in this video.

All Dale Tiffany lamps are unique pieces. The craftsmanship starts by creating the art glass. True art glass is made by hand-blending a palette of molten glass tones to conjure up unique colors. Then the glass is hand-cut and each piece is individually edged with copper foil. This technique was developed by Louis Comfort Tiffany more than a century ago for his famously ornate glass mosaics. A quality Tiffany floor lamp or Tiffany glass table lamp is sure to bring extra quality to your space. Other quality materials used include pebblestone, antique brass, crystal, and even golden sand.

Finally, the artisans hand-assemble the pieces of glass into the mosaic design of the shade. The mosaic is soldered together and given a superbly authentic antique finish. Metal filigree might be added to accent details such as dragonfly wings. Hundreds of pieces of glass are used in the designs, and some shades feature more than 1,000 individual glass segments.

Greg and I are very selective about the reproduction product lines we offer to our customers. The high quality and skilled craftsmanship of Dale Tiffany lamps and chandeliers meet our exacting standards! We know our clients want the benefit of beautiful heirloom-quality lighting at a much lower price than the original antiques.

Breaking New Ground

Louis C. Tiffany broke new ground in designing with glass, but his designs were limited to the wealthy.  Not any longer! It’s wonderful to see the tradition of Tiffany lamps continue as Dale Tiffany creates the antiques of tomorrow. Whether you’re looking for a floor lamp for your living room, or a Tiffany table lamp or accent lamp for your home office, Dale Tiffany has you covered. From torchieres to lamp shades to antique bronze buffet lamps, this brand is truly special.

New Year, New Products to Love!

I hope you enjoyed (or are still enjoying!) the holiday season. I, and all of us at EuroLux, wish you a healthy and happy 2013.

I want to share some exciting news with you to kick off the new year. EuroLux will always be known for its fine French antique furniture, but we realize not everyone’s home can accommodate an 8-foot tall antique buffet. And not everyone’s budget can accommodate the antique furniture of his or her dreams.

That’s why I’m pleased to let you know we’ve expanded our product lines to offer you the very best reproduction antique furniture on the market today. High-quality reproductions serve many purposes:

  • They’re generally sized to fit the proportions of modern rooms (and by “modern,” we mean homes built within the past century).
  • They can help bridge the style gap between genuine antiques and newer home furnishings to create a seamless interior design scheme.
  • They often give you the ability to customize the finish color and level of distressing.
  • They’re budget friendly.
  • They enable you to obtain items that don’t exist as antiques (or are extremely rare), such as king-size beds, made by adapting authentic period designs.
  • They become tomorrow’s heirloom antiques. After all, even an antique Brittany armoire made in 1880 once was a new piece of furniture.

Greg and I hand-picked the reproduction product lines to carry because we wanted to make sure they truly were the highest quality available. The vast majority of our reproduction chairs, chests, beds, and other items involve a significant amount of hand work by a skilled craftsman. This ensures you receive a very high-quality product. Let me tell you more about these new additions to our inventory.

First, we’re excited to announce we now carry Dale Tiffany light fixtures. These exquisite chandeliers and lamps often replicate the original designs of Louis Comfort Tiffany and use traditional methods to create the hand-blown art glass in each shade. Dale Tiffany Studios also creates its own designs and employs the highest level manufacturing standards for each piece. From luxury replicas to budget-friendly fixtures, our Dale Tiffany line offers you the chance to incorporate historic designs or contemporary updates into your decor.

This exquisite Dale Tiffany polished chrome chandelier, for example, incorporates real crystal pendants (as opposed to less-expensive glass). And at just 18 inches tall, it’s proportioned for today’s smaller foyers and bedrooms – or a large master bath. Picture yourself soaking in the tub under this sparkling beauty!

We also now offer exceptional, hand-crafted reproduction furniture. Here’s a small sampling of the items now available in our reproduction category.

This English Tudor style king-size bed is crafted of solid alder wood with cherry accents and features an aged, distressed umber finish so it will blend well with your existing antiques.

Reproduction French Country bar stool

This gorgeous bar stool offers you an updated French Country style to complement your decor. This barstool features a hand-shaped back and hand beading, which guarantees that no two are alike. It’s an exceptional piece of fine furniture.

After seeing these examples, I hope you’ll agree “reproduction” is not a four-letter word! I judge these items worthy to stand alongside any piece of antique French furniture in the home.

What’s your take? Do you eschew reproductions in favor of the “real thing,” or do you see reproduction furniture as an opportunity to round out your design scheme?
