We are selling a lot of antique chairs at the moment as people start to think about the holidays. They know that now is the time to order antique or new chairs and tables to host their festive gatherings!  This set of 14 dining chairs dates to 1890 and their Renaissance style silhouette features elegant turned spindles in the chair backs for a classic sculptural look and an open and airy profile that will delight  today’s buyers.

Jonathan Charles Buckingham Regency Dining Table -183-5This Regency style Buckingham table is newly crafted by Jonathan Charles, but we’re sneaking it in to show how a high-quality new reproduction table can be a beautiful choice! (Item number JC-183) It’s a very versatile extending table, expanding with a self-storing leaf from seating 8, to seating 10, so you have space for everyone at the feast!  But the reason you’ll fall in love with it is for its sheer good looks. The Buckingham table is based on an original English Regency design from 1820, and it is crafted using the same traditional techniques used by furniture makers for centuries. The handsome crotch mahogany veneer and majestic twin pedestal baluster bases make this an exceptional table.

Vintage Delft Vase 22-294Our new arrivals also included many beautiful Blue Delft vases and ginger jars.

We chose these when we were buying antiques in Europe because they are so timelessly elegant, and the classic blue and white designs are a breath of fresh air.

This is one of our favorites:  a vintage 1950 hand-painted Delft vase from Holland, marked Ram. (Item number 22-294.) A perfect example of European refinement and originating in Holland, the Delft vase is elegant both in its shape and in its rich blue and white/cream design of flowers. The hand-painted blue floral pattern is elegant and pretty, and the shape of the vase or jar is quite unusual for Delft.  The result? A gorgeous vase to take pride of place on a console table in your living room, hallway, foyer or bedroom.

We were also delighted to unpack several boxes of religious treasures after their long journey across the Atlantic from Europe!  I’m selecting a Madonna figure to show you, to mark the recent Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in August. This exceptional antique French chalkware statue of the Madonna, stands more than 3 feet tall, with lovely colors and details.

22-230 Standing cross crucifixWe also have many antique and vintage crucifixes and standing crosses, as well as other religious figurines.

For example, this handsome antique French standing cross is sure to be admired by anyone who likes streamlined and minimalist objects, all the better to focus on the spiritual meaning of the statue.

Dating to 1900, the metal crucifix features a ladder and two spears and it stands on a prettily shaped base.

Belgian Furniture: Religious Treasures

antique religious treasures

We continued our European antiques buying trip in Belgium, where we found a wonderful array of Belgian furniture and religious treasures to ship home, as well as antique furniture. In my last blog post I wrote about the antique and vintage chandeliers we found in Belgium.  So let’s have a look at our next discoveries.

antique religious treasures

We were mainly driving around France, Belgium and England to visit antique stores and dealers so we could find pieces to ship back to the USA. However, on one day in Belgium we helped clear out a house and we found some great religious pieces. Apparently the lady that died was the girlfriend of the local priest! That would explain why she had so many exquisite crucifixes and religious statues.

Quality Belgian Furniture

Here are some of the statues we found. The details on the Madonnas and saints are beautiful. You can see that the hand-painted robes and faces on the figures still show bright colors and there isn’t much sign of wear and tear. They were obviously well-cared for and loved, and probably kept in a fairly shady room so the colors didn’t get bleached by the sun.

Antique Store in Belgium

We also bought some wonderful antique furniture in Belgium. In my post about our antiques buying trip in France I shared a photo of a very picturesque antique shop in Normandy and some other stores that were packed to the rafters,. But this one in Belgium was a first!  This dealer uses an old grocery store as a warehouse. I guess it is called “upcycling!”

Will all the antiques fit in the van

Belgian Furniture Galore!

At the end of our buying trip in Belgium we had a huge bounty of furniture and religious treasures, as well as 85 vintage chandeliers. The chandeliers were all individually wrapped and you can’t see them in this photo. We pack them inside the big furniture so they are protected and also to make the most of every inch of space. But just imagine 85 individually wrapped chandeliers!  So now the question was: Could we fit everything we had bought in Belgium in THIS rented van?

Inside the van

And the answer was…. Nope! It worked out to be about three van loads. But we managed to get everything safely transported. Next, our very full shipping container will set off for the USA in the last week in July and land in Charleston about 4 weeks later. Then the real work begins!

As for me and Greg, we drove back to Paris to turn in the van, and then we flew to England to drive around the Midlands looking for grandfather clocks and Chesterfield leather sofas. That’s another story for my next blog post!

European Furniture at

Belgian furniture is always impressive. Whether you choose a dining table, side table, set of dining chairs or a coffee table, the craftsman of Belgium always pull through. Maybe a Belgian style sideboard is what your living room needs. Outdoor furniture is also an option. Many of these pieces were crafted in the 19th century, and have stood the test of time. For your bedroom furniture needs, we’d suggest an Art Deco bookcase, a chest of drawers, or maybe a set of floor lamps or table lamps. From Mid-Century Modern decor to antique excellence, we’ve got the interior design pieces for you.

Christian Home Decor

We have a wide selection of Christian home decor as well. These range from personalized wall decor such as wall art, as well as Jesus figurines. At EuroLuxHome, we have a centerpiece for every style. These home decorations could make a great housewarming gift or wedding gift for your favorite follower of Jesus Christ. Maybe a piece of christian wall decor, such as christian wall art featuring a Psalm if what you need. Antique Religious Treasures

1940 French Standing Cross

As usual in the weeks approaching Easter, a lot of people are getting in touch with us at to ask about our antique religious treasures. Customers are also preparing for Confirmations and First Communions in the spring.

There is something very special about an antique religious object, whether a crucifix, standing cross, holy water font, or a statue of Jesus Christ or the Madonna. It is so moving to see the devotional wear on these exquisite works of holy art.

You can often see where someone has rubbed the religious object with their fingers when praying. As a result, the crucifix or statue has developed that devotional wear over the years. To me, this makes it even more beautiful. It shows that someone has really cared about it and it has played an important part in their spiritual life.

Jesus Christ Sacred Heart Antique religious treasure

Antique Religious Treasure Madonna

The Jesus Christ Sacred Heart statue and the large antique Madonna and Child sculpture are both fine examples of French religious chalkware dating to the 1920s. While browsing European antiques market,  I’m constantly scanning the tables until a crucifix or a Madonna statue catches my eye! I made a beeline for this Madonna at a French antiques market  because of her 17-inch-high size and the pretty white and gold painted finish.

Joan of Arc Antique Religious Treasure

I tend to like very ornate things, so I always enjoy seeing the very Rococo crucifixes or antique religious treasures with saints. This 1900 antique French statue of the Roman Catholic Saint Joan of Arc definitely captured my attention. The Maid of Orleans is a stunning 44 inches high so she’s hard to miss! The elaborate detail on the flag fringes, armor, helmet, and draped garments make her a noble figure.

Holy water font The 1940 French vintage holy water font on the right, depicting the Madonna and Child, is also powerful in design. I need to return to France to find some more.

I love this time of year and helping people find just the right devotional object. Of course, I love talking with customers about all our antique furniture too. But I feel honored to be able to connect someone to the antique religious treasure they’ve been seeking. We are not only adding a unique decorative antique to their home. We’re the guardians for a sacred object that has been much loved in the past, and now we help it on its journey to someone else who will treasure it in their own intimate spiritual life. What an amazing privilege!
