Ambella Home Vanity & Game Room Renovation

Cathy B. bought an Ambella Home vanity from us for her home in Canyon Lake, TX. But as well as sending photos of the vanity in place, she also sent photos of other projects in her beautiful house. Cathy did a great job of describing the journey to her renovated "dream game room basement."

Before...

Above is a 'before' shot of Cathy's house. It was built in 2010 on the Guadalupe River, which is known for tubing and kayaking in the summer and trout fishing year round. Her family bought it as a weekend home in December 2012. "From the front of our house it looks like we have a two-story home," says Cathy, "but we are on a terraced piece of property above the river and from the back we have 3 stories. The walk-in basement can only be accessed from the backyard. "

...After

Cathy's first project in May 2013 was to build a concrete deck with Santa Fe Stone topping it, as well as the existing sidewalk and patio on the ground floor. Apart from the lovely landscaping, can you spot the other major difference between the before and after shot? "One of the major things I wanted to change was the direction of the stairs," says Cathy. "In the 'before' picture, they block the lower patio. I wanted a clear view when we built out the walk-in basement. In the 'after' picture they are out of the way. It made a world of difference."

Bar and Games RoomThe next project, In August 2013, was to work on that unfinished walk-in basement! Cathy's crew started to build out the bar and turn it into this incredible bar and game room called Guadaloopy's!  Let's see some of the transformation as it happened and I'll let Cathy tell the story in her own words.

River View BeforeThis is how the unfinished basement started out. You wouldn't think it was the same space, would you?  "We hired a great contractor (Trampus Smith at Smith Development in Canyon Lake) with a vision and great ideas," says Cathy. "We wanted rustic and he found some old tin from a rusty roof.  We wanted barn wood and he found that and cut and stripped it to fit.  We wanted an old brick wall.  He located a couple of pallets in Houston and my husband and I took them to the river house.  I wanted a specific metallic epoxy floor in a very specific color and he figured that out."

He also knew a young furniture maker (Artisan Custom Crafting in Fredericksburg) and he had him design and build the bar. "They delivered it in hundreds of hand-crafted pieces and then jigsaw-puzzled it together!" Says Cathy. "They were amazing."

Memorabilia on Home Bar Counter

Finally, Cathy and her husband wanted to put their personal memorabilia under an epoxy coating on the bar top. What a great idea and it looks terrific.

This is where EuroLux Home came into the picture! From our wide range of new Ambella Home sink chests and vanities Cathy spied one that she really liked. "We were undecided about our vanity in the bathroom until I came across this gorgeous piece and had to have it!"

Ambella Home Sink ChestThe Ambella Home vanity is crafted with a gorgeous rustic look and a vintage finish. The marble top and copper farmhouse sink was a great fit for the bathroom in Cathy's basement bar and game room.

Ambella Home vanityHere's the Ambella Home vanity positioned in its new home.  Doesn't it look wonderful?  It's a slender 36" wide, but the chunky design and earthy marble and copper materials suit the decor perfectly.

I was so impressed by the amazing basement transformation made by Cathy and her husband. They really did a lot of work, and Cathy had a great eye for the details she wanted to make this the perfect game room and home bar for her family.

We love seeing creative home makeovers like this, so thank you Cathy for being so generous and sharing your photos and your story.  Keep us posted, Cathy...  now you've finished the home bar and game room, do you have any other room makeovers on your calendar?
