Best of March 2015: Traditions, Trends, Tile

In this month of transition from winter to spring we had a blast talking about traditions and trends in home decor. We also shared our latest tiling project on our 1920s vintage bungalow renovation! Here are highlights from some our of favorite blog posts of the month.

Antique chinese altar tableThis antique Chinese altar table traveled a long way from its original home in Shanxi Province, China, to Ft. Myers, Florida. It made the transition beautifully. The timeless grace of the circa 1900 antique table also translated well as a console table in the 21st century. See more photos of the antique Chinese altar table in Richard's home and learn the symbolism of the carved scrolling cloud design.

Home Decor Trends Mixed MetalsMixed metals are a strong home decor trend for 2015, although one glance at our antique and vintage home accents shows that mixing metals has always been popular!

I hope you find some inspiration in our blog post on Home Decor Trends: Mixed Metals as well as ways to think about how to layer warm-toned metals with cool ones.

Irish house traditional decor libraryWe celebrated St. Patrick's Day in March by taking a look around houses featuring traditional Irish home decor.  They are so romantic and Old World and comfortably gorgeous. The kind of rooms that make you want to write poetry or whip up a classic Emerald Isle dish like Boxty. Boxty is a kind of potato pancake but I can't help you with how to make it! I just know that it mixes mashed and grated potatoes, like hash browns. The main thing is that the name Boxty is so great, isn't it? So are these rooms.

Hand-painted easter eggsFinally, I enjoyed celebrating this most important time of year with a blog post about Easter table decor.

From elegant Victorian table settings to wowza springtime fantasies, there has to be something in that blog post to inspire your creative eye when entertaining or just sharing a beautiful Easter meal with the family.

What next? I've got some great home decor ideas and info on antique furniture to share with you in our April blog posts, so stay tuned!
